Give me the strength
To stand up for myself
I need Your power
Your grace and truth
I want to please others
Not offend or hurt
I need to say no
To stand up for myself
Especially my morals
The boundaries I’ve set down
I need to stand for them
Not ditch them
As soon as they are inconvenient
For someone else
I need to stand for what I believe
And never compromise
I’m too unstable
Too easily moved
God be my rock
To stand on and build my house
Remind me to stand on truth
On the ideals I’ve placed on myself
Simple and easy
If only I couldn’t be swayed
God give me the courage
And freedom to ignore what they think
So I can think for myself
They said freedom of the soul
Is to have stability of opinion
Not unchanging
But only changed by truth
Not peer pressure
Or inconvenience
Give me that freedom of the soul
Not to fear standing up for myself
Because that might be looked down on
I want to be a real Christian
And live a life with morals unmoved
Living by God’s standard
Not the world’s
